Paul Fraser
Director: Cities and Communities - KSA,
AtkinsRealis
Paul is a passionate advocate of putting people at the heart of design, and is driven by transformational urban projects that enhance quality of life at the city scale. At the same time, he finds achieving a clear design ethos or purpose, and sense of place, while solving the myriad technical challenges of central urban development to be the defining challenge of improving our cites. Across a long career Paul’s experience encompasses conceptual and technical landscape design, urban design, client-side development management and Masterplanning all the way up to the metropolitan scale. He is both a Chartered Landscape Architect (UK) and qualified Urban Designer with a Master’s degree in the latter. Working in partnership with clients, mentoring talented design teams and collaborating with the full range of other professionals needed to bring transformational schemes to life are among the aspects of the vocation that he finds the most engaging. Alongside projects in North Africa, India and the UK, Paul has worked on schemes across the Middle East for about 15 years and joins C+P from the client organisation of one of Saudi Arabia’s cornerstone Government tourism ‘giga projects’. In tandem with project commitments, Paul has taught, lectured, written, and mentored including candidates for the UK’s registration (or ‘Chartership’) of professional Landscape Architects.
