Nicholas Bonaventure
Nicholas Bonaventure has more than 30 years’ experience in the practice of architecture across the Middle East, South and East Asia and Australasia.
He is an internationally acclaimed designer who was Middle East Architect Magazine’s Architect of the Year in 2008. He has been awarded at MIPIM, and his projects hold numerous Arabian Property Awards including Best High-Rise Architecture and Best Marina Development. His recent work received the NZ Learning Environments Supreme Award for educational design in 2022.
Nicholas is renowned for the sensitivity of his work, which celebrates people, place and culture. He founded the international design practice nicholas in 2024. The studio promotes a regenerative agenda – “making things better” – across the areas of urban and public realm design, architecture and interiors.
Nicholas is “hands-on” across all projects – designing, mentoring and leading. He was previously Design Director and Head of Architecture for Atkins in the Northern Gulf, where he oversaw delivery of the Bahrain World Trade Center and was project architect for Durrat-Al-Bahrain.
He is an architect member of the Royal Institute of British Architects, the Australian Institute of Architects, the New Zealand Institute of Architects, and the Singapore Institute of Architects. nicholas is a RIBA Chartered Practice.
