Hrvoje is an Urban Planner and Designer who has been based in the Middle East since 2010, having previously lived and worked in Germany, Croatia, and the UK. He has contributed to a wide range of projects spanning four continents, from large-scale structure plans to tactical placemaking initiatives, for both private and public sector clients. He currently leads Buro Happold’s global Urban Strategies team, comprising around 80 urban planners, economists, designers, and spatial analysts distributed across the firm’s network of offices. 

Hrvoje has been involved in delivering and leading some of the region’s most significant projects, including the masterplan for the Qatar FIFA World Cup. Since that seminal professional experience, he has combined his personal passion for sports with a strong interest in ensuring that events and their associated investments generate lasting benefits for the communities and economies in which assets are developed. He is also engaged in local academia, serving on several advisory boards, and is a strong advocate for locally contextual, place‑appropriate solutions for the built environment, particularly for cities in arid climates.
