Al Nayhan Park, envisioned to enrich lives, embodies urban regeneration and inclusive play within Abu Dhabi's Al Nahyan district, formerly a military base. As the neighborhood evolves, this vibrant park meets the urgent need for recreational spaces and improved pedestrian, cycling, and open space networks. Al Nayhan Park is integral to ICON’s district design, focusing on connectivity and blending spaces for defined and undefined activities, creating an immersive experience for all.
Demonstrating a strong commitment to sustainability, the park utilizes durable, low-maintenance materials and incorporates native plants to reduce water usage and foster biodiversity. Construction was enhanced through off-site fabrication, minimizing on-site waste and disruption.
As a green oasis in Abu Dhabi’s urban landscape, the park design strategically considers the city’s hot climate, employing “cool” materials and leafy canopies for shade. Innovative moving structures and water features positively influence the local microclimate. 
The moving fabric shade structure enhances the microclimate by facilitating wind circulation, allowing hot air to escape while maximizing shade with its vertical hanging sheets. This design also offers an educational aspect, illustrating the wind's motion through the animated movement of the fabric, creating compelling visual waves and ripples.
